๐Ÿ“ข Weekly Update: Week 3

๐Ÿ“ข Weekly Update: Week 3

Welcome to Week 3! This week, our focus centers on laying strong foundations for effective classroom management, establishing clear expectations, and creating a structured, safe environment for learning.

It was lovely to see so many of you on Tuesday and Wednesday for the new mentor conference 1 and our First Mentor training Meeting of the Year.

Trainees will be joining you on Tuesday morning - check that there is a plan from your Professional Tutor re meet and greet - as a warm organised welcome is important for setting the placement off on the right tone.

Make them welcome with keys - a place to work and introduce them to your team, how hot drinks work in your school/department etc.

๐ŸŽ“ Training Summary

This week, trainees engage in key training and induction activities designed to establish essential routines and safeguard pupil wellbeing:

  • Subject Training: Subject-specific training focusing an introduction to the subject training programme and  on the KS2 โ€“ KS3 curriculum transition (noting specific guidance for subjects like Business Studies). • School Induction & Tasks: Trainees should begin work on the Task Booklet and the three-part Induction Task in collaboration with peers and their mentor. This includes arranging to shadow an LSA / TA for a day.
  • Safeguarding & Logistics: Reviewing safeguarding protocols, confirming reporting steps for pupil concerns, and establishing communication expectations with mentors (e.g., agreeing on cut-off times for emails).
